Lockdown Life Uplifted as Heathrow brings virtual work experience to our students.

Six colleges have worked together this lockdown to ensure their students don’t miss out on any work experience opportunities during these times. Over one thousand 16-18-year olds took part in the virtual work experience programme funded by the Department for Education (DFE), starting on 22 February 2021. Young people received online webinars to demonstrate the latest technologies in their business sectors and show them best practice from Top employers.

Foundation Learning have online lesson from The House of Commons.

Some of our students from Foundation Learning Entry Level 3 took part in a session that gave them an introduction into further understanding UK Parliament.

Within the 1 hour session, students learnt about the work and the role of The House of Commons and The House of Lords. They learnt the difference between UK Parliament and Government, the work of MPs and members of the House of Lords; and finally how laws are made and how they can make sure their voices heard.  

Film and TV Students Meet Award Winning Screen Writer and Director.

On Thursday 29th April, Film and TV students at Amersham had the opportunity to virtually meet with BAFTA nominated Writer and Director, Chris Fallon.

Chris kindly offered time in his very busy schedule to speak about his experiences in a 35-year career. These included being asked to write a Hollywood film for Warner Brothers starring Harrison Ford and his time as Director and Writer on EastEnders. With one of his EastEnders episodes appearing in the top 10 best episodes that gained over 25 million viewers.

Free courses launched to support adults in the wake of COVID-19

We are pleased to be able to offer a number of course modules to adults for free, as part of the government’s Lifetime Skills Guarantee scheme, enabling adults to retrain, upskill or make a career change. The offer is backed by £95 million from the £2.5 billion National Skills Fund, which is financing programmes that both support the immediate economic recovery from the pandemic and help meet future skills needs.
